I have recently developed a serious relationship with all things beauty and makeup. I did many, many beauty haul recently and done some substantial damages in Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima. With a considerably medium sized budget, I have to squeeze in plenty of trips to Priceline and local pharmacy in order to add few drugstore options to my makeup and beauty routine. Like many things in life, some I love and some I’m not a big fan of. So I thought, well why not do review on these babies right? Here we go…
Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in soft beige,
My actual concealer is NARS Creamy Concealer in ginger, but I needed a lighter concealer for my under-eyes. I don’t have a really horrible dark circles, but every now and then after few late nights it helps to have a lighter concealer in this area. I love this product, it is so easy to apply. Same applicator as my NARS concealer and it is a much more affordable option. They are limited to 3 different color options (not sure whether this is only in Australia), so don’t expect a perfect match to your skin color. Think of it as a closer match instead.
NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder – Pressed in translucent crystal,
I am so in love with this powder!!! They offer a loose powder option as well, however I feel like I will be wasting so much product hence the pressed powder is a much better option for me. I need this powder to carry in my portable makeup bag to touch up my makeup. I have an oily skin and if I’m going out after work, I need help to fresh up my makeup. This powder works wonder, because it’s translucent it doesn’t rubbed off my foundation and concealer. Highly recommended.
Sleek MakeUp Face Contour Kit in light,
I purchased this on a whim cause Luxola had 30% off makeup products. I normally, contour with my NARS bronzer in casino but I find that in winter time it’s too dark for my skin tone. I actually enjoy using this contour kit, makes contouring super easy. It is well pigmented and so easy to apply, I find that I don’t have to blend too much afterwards. They have 3 tone options, light, medium and dark.
Sleek MakeUp Blush By 3 in pumpkin 363,
Saw this blush being recommended by one of my favourite Youtuber, Zoella, so I purchased from Luxola. Blush by 3 consist of 3 different color blushes in Lantern (light orange), Squash (pink) and P Pie (darker orange). I am loving the lantern for the slight orange color, and I have a lipstain by Stila in a similar colouring to both lantern and p pie. Whenever I’m wearing these blushes, cause it’s so summery, I feel like I am carrying summer with me.
Bourjois Paris, blush/blusher in Rose Coup de Foudre no. 16,
This has to be my favourite blusher right now. It’s a light pink color with light shimmer throughout. I use my a small kabuki brush to apply this instead of using the brush that come with the blusher. Love the light pink on my cheek, looks so natural, I believe this is possibly the drugstore equivalent to NARS blush in orgasm. And I also love the fact that this little pot smells divine.
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray,
May I just say, if you are a huge Urban Decay fan, please forgive me for what I’m about to say. I am a little disappointed with this spray. Firstly, it didn’t make my makeup last any longer than normally, and secondly, I feel like spraying good ol’ H2O on my face and that’s it. I’m not sure what the fuss with this setting spray in about. I still have to put on my translucent powder post-work/pre-going out. SO yes not a big fan.
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara in black,
I’ve been wearing benefit They’re Real mascara for a year now, but I thought to myself, I wonder if I can find a drugstore equivalent for them. My plan is to try the Maybelline Falsies but I stumble upon this Max Factor one instead. I enjoy this so far, the wand separated my lashes well and I love that it gives a thickened lashes affect. But I do still prefer my benefit. Will go ahead with the Maybelline Falsies mascara next.
Urban Decay BASICS eyeshadow palette, I believe this one is the original basics palette,
I hope I can redeem myself here, I am a big big fan of this Naked Basics Eyeshadow palette. I never go super crazy with eyeshadow colors, always go for neutral colors. Hence this palette is perfect, I don’t really want to invest in the actual NAKED palette cause I still have similar palettes from Model’s Prefer Shadows. Anyway, love this palette. Perfect size for my portable makeup bag.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture in no. 54,
I’ve been looking for a berry color lippy for a while now, I wanted one for the winter season. So glad to have faithfully watched Zoella cause she revealed that this is the brand she uses on her videos all throughout winter month. Love that its still moisturising, but not too glossy which I love. Must have if you’re looking for dark lippy for the colder season
Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Parisian passion,
Purchased this one thinking that it will give me a dark berry lippy, well not quite. This stains my lips with the color very lightly. I actually don’t mind it cause on the day that I don’t feel like wearing super dark lippy but still wants the berry color. The disappointing thing is they don’t last, they fade quickly so I feel like I have to reapply few times throughout the day
Well there they are everybody! Can’t wait to do another review and hopefully it’ll be useful for all of you beginner, amateur makeup lovers like myself. Comments below and tell me what you think. On the lookout for a good soft pink/nude color lippy if anyone knows a good one, let me know please…
